Hello, I recently assembled a new computer and encountered an issue that only appears while gaming. The system would crash, either by restarting to Windows or by the screen going black, with fans and RGB lights still active before the whole machine restarts. Games like Red Dead 2 and Doom (2016) crashed during play, but Doom Eternal worked fine at Ultra settings. I attempted troubleshooting myself—tried updating drivers, ran memtest, checked temperatures—and found everything seems normal. A CPU test on OCCT revealed over 1k errors on core 1. I’m unsure if the problem is hardware-related or due to a missing driver. I plan to reinstall Windows and drivers completely, so any advice would be greatly appreciated. This is my first computer built in about 15 years, which makes the situation especially frustrating. If you have suggestions or logs from Event History, please share them.

Please confirm the specific BIOS settings you're referring to regarding your clock and voltage adjustments.

I'm not certain about their location in BIOS or their exact names. You can share the pictures you took, and I'll help identify them.

Just to confirm there wasn't an unstable overclock configuration accidentally made, everything should be in order without errors during your stress test. You noted more than 1k errors on one core—please check the CPU and socket for bent pins or other issues that might cause problems. If the setup looks correct and connected properly, consider returning the unit and requesting a replacement CPU, as this likely indicates a defect with the die. If you find another compatible CPU with the same socket type, test it to see if performance improves, which could point to a motherboard problem.

Are your GPU drivers current? Verify the temperatures for both the CPU and GPU.

Are the BIOS settings current? Does the RAM support EXPO profiles?

It has XMP but issues persist when both are off and on. The BIOS started at version 1.28, and I updated directly to the latest available release.

This update has been tested before, but it caused even more issues and made the whole system unstable. From what I understand, temperatures aren't the main problem.

I have replaced the CPU and applied fresh paste. Disabled xmp and no errors appeared on OCCT with xmp OFF. The game still crashes after 30 minutes or an hour, even with RDD2 ultra settings. I changed fan curves and lowered power limits in Adrenaline, which seems to stop the crashes, but performance is still poor. Could this mean the issue is with the PSU or GPU?
