Problem with newer Intel/Nvidia PC failing to show after an issue.
This build has been running smoothly for over a decade. I’m not familiar with recent troubleshooting tips and haven’t kept up with component updates. In the coming days, I’ll be working with a friend to diagnose the problem, in case we need guidance beyond what’s available here.
The system has performed well since it was installed in June. I’ve been playing Cyberpunk 2077 and keeping an eye on temperatures for the initial days, but I stopped monitoring because the overlay was distracting. I never noticed the GPU exceeding 72 or the CPU going above 40.
Last night, the PC shut down completely. Since then, it won’t display anything at all. I’ve tried checking the RAM, powering off the machine, and resetting the CMOS on the motherboard. The PSU boots immediately after each reset.
I own a voltmeter for diagnostics, but haven’t yet identified what specific tests to run. Once again, I heard a double beep from Gigabyte, which suggested a memory problem. However, it wasn’t the usual BIOS sounds I was used to. It’s possible the motherboard speaker was installed incorrectly—it’s currently set in the +/NC pins of the front case connector.
I’m still stuck and hoping my friend can help by checking voltage readings tonight to rule out power issues.
Not entirely certain. I don't even notice the BIOS boot screens. The monitor reports no signal on port DP1. On older systems, if it didn't boot into Windows, it would shut down or a single press of the case power would turn it off. I've definitely had to hold the power down to stop it. So I think it's getting into Windows. I'll try a few more tests to confirm. I'm guessing having my speakers connected might help, but my TV was the last selected output. (I've used TV and monitor as displays) I'm not sure what will default if the HDMI is unplugged.
