Problem with new SSD not booting, only when using installation media
Hi there, I’m having issues with my Acer Swift 3. Recently, I couldn’t boot beyond a screen that only had Acer installed, and even the BIOS wouldn’t open. I’m trying to restore the laptop to its original state and install a fresh Windows version. But when using USB installation media with the drive connected, I still see a black screen displaying “Acer” before I can access the BIOS. Removing the drive lets me boot into the installation process normally. I attempted to use the repair option to enter BIOS and adjust boot priority, but it’s been too long since I’ve worked through it—I’m struggling to recall my password. Please don’t forget—I checked my old forum posts from months ago! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Did you create your bootable USB using Windows Media Creation Tools? We won’t assist you in circumventing security protocols, no matter how much you insist it’s yours—rules apply. Regarding your operating system, you should be ready for a clean installation if the OS is intact and the SSD remains unharmed. What is the model of the SSD?
The USB device was created using Windows Media Creation Tools. I obtained a Samsung Evo 870 for the storage.
