Hey everyone, I just started building my first desktop last weekend and quickly realized there was a frame drop problem. A friend who knows a lot about computers helped us troubleshoot for hours. We tried everything—downloading drivers, adjusting BIOS settings, even changing my mouse's refresh rate. We tried all the suggestions we found, but the issue still persists. We're experiencing frequent frame time spikes, though the CPU and GPU aren't reaching their maximum temperatures or voltages. It's worth noting that these spikes happen only under certain conditions: they started when I downloaded Steam content and moved files from an external drive to the new PC. They occur regularly during specific high-intensity games like Deep Rock Galactic, Hades, and Baldur's Gate III, but not during lower-intensity games such as Minecraft or early versions of Noita. I've attached the PC's specifications and some graphs showing the frame time changes during a short session of Baldur's Gate III. Hope this helps anyone investigating this! THRONGLER.txt

Someone mentioned overclocking the CPU was the issue. I didn’t do it myself, but a default BIOS setting turned on "turbo mode," making the CPU run at 200 mHz above its recommended speed. I disabled it and everything worked fine.
