Problem with new nvme m.2 drive not booting OS
Pc
Ryzen 5 3600x
Sapphire 5700xt nitro +
32gb ddr4 3600mghz ram
WD nvme 250gb for OS
4gb HDD
Rm750x
Asus b450f gaming motherboard
I’m attempting to add a second M.2 drive in the second slot on my motherboard. After installation, the PC fails to boot Windows. Booting works when I remove the new drive. I’ve changed the SATA cable positions without success. Can someone suggest a solution or advise on upgrading storage?
Thanks!
Also note that after making some changes, the system started using a new drive. This caused Windows to boot briefly before displaying the blue screen recovery prompt, allowing it to restart again.
It's possible to reinstall Windows on the NVMe drive, but be careful—if you do, disconnect all other drives first. Otherwise, Windows could install the bootloader on one drive while the operating system goes on another.
Turn off your HDD, replace the old NVMe drive with the new one, and install Windows on a USB flash drive.
Yes, I understand you're checking if your setup supports Windows 11.
