Problem with new build pc not starting, fans run briefly before stopping
I just put together a new pc using parts I purchased on ebay.
Power supply: Antec VP300PC 300W
Processor: i5 6400
Motherboard: Asus prime H310M2 R2.0
RAM: 2x Samsung 4GB PC4-2400T
All connections seem correct, but the system won’t boot. After turning on power, the CPU fan moves slightly before stopping, while the PSU fan runs for about two seconds before halting.
I’ve tried swapping one of the RAM modules, but it didn’t help, so I assume the RAM is fine.
If I disconnect the CPU from the motherboard and leave the CPU fan connected, both fans spin normally until I power it off. But when I reinstall the CPU, the issue resurfaces.
Could the problem be with the motherboard or definitely the CPU?
Motherboard and CPU compatibility issues. The 300 series chipsets are limited to 8th and 9th generation CPUs.
Supported CPUs on this board include:
PRIME H310M2 R2.0|ASUS Prime series
