Problem with new build not starting, assistance required
Hi Team,
I’m starting my first Mini ITX build with an Asrock A520M-ITX/ac and all parts from the approved list. This is my first attempt using an APU instead of a CPU... Ryzen 5600G.
The issue seems to be that when I press the power button, nothing happens. But when I pull the power cable to the CPU port and press the on button, the light turns on and the fan starts. I thought it might be the PSU, but I checked the pins on the CPU cable with a multimeter—they’re working.
I’ve looked at some troubleshooting advice on the site and feel confident on most points, though there are a few concerns. This is my first build with just one stick of RAM; the manual didn’t give clear instructions about placing just one stick. Does that matter?
I haven’t performed any CMOS or BIOS reset yet. Could that help, or is there another reason for the problem?
Thanks,
Matt.
I am starting my first Mini ITX project using an Asrock A520M-ITX/ac and all parts from the approved list. This build has no graphics card—it's my initial attempt with an APU instead of a CPU... Ryzen 5600G.
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, it's standard to provide full system details. Please include your build specifications in the following format:

Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:

Monitor:
Add the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also, note the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.

You may want to check a sticker on your motherboard; if it starts with a P, it indicates the BIOS version is P1.60 or similar.
