Hi, Your PC isn’t connecting to the internet via Ethernet when plugged into a switch, but it works through the router. All switch ports function normally, and even other devices using the same cable connect fine. Your motherboard is an MSI B450 Gaming Plus. What should you try next?

Link the cable from the router to the switch, then attach your computers to the switch. A switch simply forwards data packets between Ethernet ports. Your network card needs the router to obtain an IP address.

Check if the port lights up when you connect your PC to the switch. Identify the specific switch model for reference. Confirm whether any recognized problems appear during this process.

It doesn't illuminate either on the switch port or the PC. This switch is a Goobay 1000 base-t gigabit model.

Consider whether your NIC supports EEE or another power configuration that could be affecting performance. It might help checking the NIC settings on both the PC and the switch, as well as the router, to identify changes that might resolve the issue. Record the current values and test one setting at a time to see if it improves the link status.
