I updated Ubuntu 18.04 on a HP Elitebook x360 1030 g2 with only the internal M.2 drive. The system is fully factory set up, with no third-party software installed. After the installation, a persistent error message appears: "Activation Failed - Activation of network connection failed." The Wi-Fi is functioning properly, but there’s no wired connection present. I’ve used Linux before and have some basic knowledge, yet I’m not very experienced. This is why I’m increasingly trying to explore it. The logs show errors during crashes, but I’m not sure what they mean. Here’s the error snippet...DHCPDISCOVER on enp0s20f0u5c2 to 255.255.255.255 port 67 interval 10 (xid=0xc7f42a1e). Looking for advice from the community on next steps.

Ensure your system is linked via Ethernet. Use "lsmod" to verify the driver installation and share the results.

Did you add third-party drivers? If not, look for the drivers specific to your laptops.

Connected using Wi-Fi. No Ethernet port on the PC and no dongle in use. Here is the output. The lsmod command shows the current modules.

Lspci should display a concise list for quicker identification of your wifi card.

Your WiFi chipset must work with Linux 4.6. What distribution are you using? Your Linux version is listed by uname -a. You might need a newer kernel or an updated Ubuntu release.
