Problem with MSI Z690 Carbon sound output.
Hello, I hope you're in the right spot. After upgrading to the Z690 chipset, I'm experiencing audio crackle or pop during volume changes. This occurs mainly when receiving notifications from Discord, Steam, or similar apps, when adjusting the Windows volume slider, and while playing videos or changing volume in the YouTube player. It can even be heard in music or podcasts. The issue happens with both 3.5mm jacks and S/PDIF connections. I've read many discussions about this problem dating back to around 2016. I've tried reinstalling Realtek drivers, removing and reinstalling them, but the MSI Z690 Carbon has an ALC4080 sound chip, so troubleshooting options are limited. Do you know any solutions? Thanks.
Hi there! MSI Z690 i512600k RTX3070TUF Sound Blaster X AE5 Plus with Logitech Z906 speakers is the setup I’m using now. After four months of new gear, I finally figured out a fix after trying many other solutions on my previous rig (Z97 i54690k). It was surprisingly simple once I remembered the right steps. In UEFI/BIOS, go to the PCIE section and switch the M2 port and PCIE port to auto mode. Set them to GEN4 and GEN5 to avoid bandwidth limits—this should clear all issues. Honestly, I haven’t seen this exact fix before, but it worked perfectly for me. Have fun!
Sorry but I need to add some facts: - ridiculously just today the issue came back (after pc went to sleep it was changing my power plan) which after going back to highest efficiency was showing some impact - yet not full happiness - and than I went into windows defender settings to see if maybe the core implemented into deep cpu part might help, but I went in options and encounter options which where showing lots of processes going through defender e.g. ctf, allocations, usage of virtual memory which was set for constant relocation - so I have turned them off and Yes, this was the cause of this horror, and yes than I have finally remembered that this was also the cause last time OMG... I can`t tell ya which is what but I`m now 100% sure that defender was the cause or let me burn in hell...
