Problem with missing pin on AsRock Z170m Pro4s (LGA1151)
Problem with missing pin on AsRock Z170m Pro4s (LGA1151)
I'm not sure about the condition of this board. It's been stored in a drawer for months, and I think it would have benefited from an earlier check. Looking at images online shows some differences, like the Intel pin being labeled "RSVD." That might affect whether it boots. I could test it myself, but it would require taking apart my hard drive, so I thought it was best to ask others first.
I believe it's just a VCC pin, so it could function. https://hardforum.com/threads/anyone-hav...t.1988830/ If you're interested, you might try the cheapest Skylake CPU available on eBay to see if it works. (There are many listings for i3-6100 models near $12.) Edited July 12, 2023 by Needfuldoer
It seems you're unsure about the pin you think it is, but based on the image, it could be a VCC pin with several available. However, I'm not entirely confident.
Thanks for the support. I decided to give it a shot and just started testing. I kept trying to install RAM and fix things, but once I got bluescreened (error 0xC0000221), I was advised to run a Windows repair. Eventually, it worked after some adjustments, though it doesn’t boot with XMP like my old ATX board does.
