problem with memory usage
I recently purchased two 8GB modules from Corsair LPX at 2400mhz to expand my system's RAM. However, I'm experiencing some issues and don't understand what's happening. My motherboard has six slots, each with 8GB of identical Corsair LX series RAM, but Windows reports only 32GB installed. Programmed with CPU-Z, it lists all six slots as having a combined total of 48GB installed. I intended to buy another pair of 8GB modules for a future upgrade to 64GB, but the current display doesn't reflect the installed amount. Could this be due to a malfunction or is there something wrong with the memory? Thanks in advance.
Purchasing identical RAM doesn't guarantee compatibility with your existing system. This often occurs when mixing different kits. If a CMOS reset fails, it's likely the issue is due to incompatibility with your current hardware.
You're asking if the two new devices were inserted correctly. Your assumption about placing the third set in the outer slots is likely accurate.
Consider testing the other RAM slots left. Have you turned on XMP? If so, did you attempt it without? (That's a powerful CPU!) Edited September 2, 2025 by leclod
