As it says in the title, I'm having issues with setting Firefox as my default browser. Everything in default apps shows that it is my default browser. However, clicking any external links such as those from games will send me to Microsoft Edge.
I should also mention that this is a new computer that I built a few days ago, not sure if that rules anything out or creates new problems but thought I'd mention it
.
I've tried using MSEdge Redirect. Didn't work because apparently I don't have
anything set as my default browser
and I am unable to set a default browser. I tried to set Firefox in the Registry Editor, can't because I'm not allowed to change anything and I don't know how to fix that. I'm not really sure what my problem here is and I don't know how to fix it.
Everything in this is set as Firefox.
Can't edit, searching around says that it might be due to not having permission. I've tried running it as administrator, and disabling antivirus' (MalwareBytes and Window's built-in one).
I just want to set my default browser.
🙁
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you attempted a full uninstall of Edge? When using the EU region, you can remove certain Micro$oft applications, including Edge (which I've done for my builds). Also, try installing Google Chrome and setting it as the default browser. After that, attempt to set Firefox as the default again. Regarding permissions, ensure your account has administrative privileges. Are you logging in with a Microsoft account on Windows or a local account? Creating a local account with admin rights might resolve the issue as well. By the way, I installed Windows 11 using my M$ account, but once inside the OS, switching to local accounts reduced the problems.

I haven't tried it myself, but I considered it and checked if it was a good move since some aspects depend on it.
I'll attempt to download Google. Regarding the permissions, I'm unsure how to adjust them properly. The accounts section confirms I'm using my Microsoft account. I'll also test the local account option.
Update: Switching between Chrome and Firefox seems to work now. Thank you very much! :]

M$ Outlook performs better when paired with Edge, though Edge itself poses security concerns to maintain. You can always reinstall Edge if it doesn't function correctly without it in the operating system. Since I'm managing a local account, I can't verify permissions while using the M$ account. When I access Settings and click on my avatar or username, the OS displays account settings indicating admin privileges. While some features work better with the M$ account compared to a local one, there are limited advantages to using the M$ account overall. This guide outlines these differences at the end, link: https://www.thewindowsclub.com/change-mi...windows-10
