Problem with MacBook Pro functionality.
Problem with MacBook Pro functionality.
Hi everyone. I got a message from a friend about a work computer that’s acting up. At first, I thought it might be related to the CPU or the overheating laptop. Later, I saw more pictures showing storage problems and a boot issue with a question mark screen. I’m not familiar with Macs and prefer avoiding Apple products. Any advice on fixing this? Thanks!
It might be a dead drive, though memory issues could be the cause too. You'll need to access it and replace it with reliable components.
Hey. I shared the same info with my friend too. It seems someone else accessed it, but they don’t have another one. I’ll reach out again to check. Appreciate your prompt reply. I’ll keep an eye on what others say.
I'm ready to go! Just like the expectations mentioned in Linus' videos, I'll proceed accordingly.
This looks like an older model to me, like 2008/2009/2010. Apple doesn't service pre-2012 MacBooks anymore except for the battery.
All hardware appears fine except for the boot drive or SATA cable. The question mark image indicates the system can't locate the files needed to start the device. Considering your overheating concerns, it looks like the SATA cable to the drive may be faulty. As I remember, MacBook Pro uses a specific proprietary cable (though not 100% certain). It would be best to take out the hard drive and try booting from an external USB enclosure first to confirm whether the issue is with the drive or the cable.
