I assembled a new PC using an R5 3600, RX 5700, and 16 GB RAM. I’m seeing about 50 FPS in GTA and Ghost Recon Wildlands at high settings on 1080p. My 3DMark numbers look fine (7,486 on Time Spy, 23,303 on Firestrike), but my CPU performance is lower (6,299 on Time Spy, 17,752 on Firestrike). My Cinebench scores are typical (479 single, 3,411 CPU). I’ve set the Ryzen High Performance Power plan, turned off V-sync, disabled freesync, enabled XMP, installed the latest drivers, and kept temperatures normal. Any advice would be welcome.
I'm not sure. The Ryzen 5 3600 is a different model compared to the 5700xt. My system was built about 1.5 years ago with a Ryzen 5 1500x and a 1060 6GB, achieving 70fps+ on high settings. I'm not an expert and can't help much, but perhaps the new drivers are causing issues? It's possible that newer drivers sometimes perform worse than older ones. I assume you're using Windows 10, which might be the problem. Could be something with the operating system itself. Have you tried updating it? The mainboard could also be the issue, though I'm not sure.
Update both the CPU and GPU drivers, and consider flashing the BIOS if possible. If this fails, perform a fresh Windows installation.
Restart the drivers, perform a full system cleanup (hardware and software), look for Windows updates, stop background applications, disable programs running in the background, turn off unused services, close Chrome and examine performance settings in Win Performance Manager to identify power drains or game performance issues. RAM modules won’t significantly affect FPS, GPU is performing well, but CPU might be a minor bottleneck—close other processes when launching games. Execute sfc/scannow via Command Prompt with admin rights to scan for OS errors. Search online for your chipset and video driver versions to see if others report similar problems. Clean the SSD, run Windows maintenance, and consider trimming the SSD if needed. A faulty power supply unit could cause power imbalances; switching to a different port might resolve unusual FPS drops (though this would affect all games). If CPU temperatures are normal, cooling is likely adequate. Optimize game settings for reduced CPU usage if you suspect it’s the bottleneck and no other issues arise.
