You're facing a common issue when switching operating systems. Since you're trying to boot from a Linux Mint disk on a new Windows PC, ensure your installation media is correctly formatted (e.g., using the correct file system type). Also, verify that the disk image is properly extracted and accessible. If the drive isn't showing up in Disks, try mounting it directly or checking for any file system errors. Since you're new, consider consulting official Linux documentation or community forums for step-by-step guidance tailored to your setup.

Search for the package in the repositories and verify it appears in the list. Ensure the installation target uses a supported filesystem like ext4, not NTFS.

Consider installing the ISO onto the drive and then complete the setup once the system boots from it. Ensure the file system used is compatible with Linux (avoid NTFS).

System checks if 'sudo fdisk -l' is understood. It may display only formatted disks.

I just verified, and it doesn't appear in the BIOs. I notice my M.2 boot drive is there, but the 2 TB drive isn't showing up. Just checked—only the partitions from the boot drive are visible. I plan to reinstall Windows and format it using ext4 to test.

Check if the device appears in fdisk; if not, the issue may be with the disk or link. Determine whether it's a SATA HDD or another type.

Sata HDD functions properly on my Windows PC without any problems. Regardless of the SATA port used on my Linux machine, it isn’t detected. I also face the same problem with my laptop running Mint, where the 1Tb SSD doesn’t appear in Linux but works well on Windows.

It seems there might be an issue with the hardware. Ensure it's properly connected to SATA power, then test the boot drive on various SATA ports to determine functionality.

I plan to test a different SATA port and replace the power cable. It would be really annoying if the cable failed while you were moving it between cases.

I solved it. The SATA connections in the external drive bays on my case aren't actually linked to the drives.
