You're experiencing lag when moving apps between monitors on Linux Mint 18.3, especially with three displays. The issue might be related to how the operating system handles screen transitions or GPU resource allocation. Since you're using the latest NVIDIA drivers and system updates are up-to-date, consider checking if your display manager (like XFCE, GNOME Display Manager, or Wayland) has known bugs or optimizations for this scenario. Also, ensure that your graphics drivers are fully compatible with your hardware configuration. If the problem persists, sharing more details about your monitor setup or system configuration could help identify the root cause.

I’m not familiar with Mint, but swapping apps between them should be possible. I usually use a smaller system with Ubuntu.

I had to refresh myself after checking Mint. It feels exactly the same without Gnome. I just read five reasons why Mint is superior to Ubuntu. To start, graphics and the option to run it like Windows are important. Still, with what you have, the screen performance should be excellent. Probably because of a software glitch somewhere.

They released an update for the Mint Software about five months ago. There might be a bug in it, but they usually notify users about it. Occasionally this happens.

Are you utilizing the open driver or the proprietary version? Consider switching to the alternative one.

the problem lies with my GTX 1050 and Ubuntu 16.04, which lacks proper support. switching to the open driver works but causes crashes. updating the kernel manually helps, though it leads to VMware problems.

It might become complicated with another editor, though.
