Back in January I purchased a Lenovo Legion 5 Pro equipped with a Ryzen 7 5800H and RTX 3060 to swap in as my main computer because it was causing frequent problems and slowed me down. It’s an excellent machine! It performs much better than my previous setup while eliminating the troubles I faced before it stopped working. The only problem is that the internal display tends to flicker black—while the screen itself remains on, the backlight switches on and off repeatedly. This has been happening since I got it, and I’m unsure why. I’ve reached out to Lenovo for assistance but they haven’t helped much. I also checked r/LenovoLegion for similar reports and received no replies. I’ve tried various online solutions without success. I’m struggling and want to keep the machine, though it makes using it on the go difficult. I thought it might be worth asking other L5P owners here if they encountered the same issue. Also, I noticed that at home I usually connect it to two monitors—one 1440p and one 1080p, both with FreeSync support—and neither has had this problem. It’s unclear if that matters. Please let me know how you’re doing.

The situation seems to point toward a possible issue. If it occurs mainly during game starts or ends and while using graphics-intensive tasks, it could relate to switching between the iGPU and dGPU. You might want to enable dGPU mode only in the BIOS. Turning off AMD GPU helped resolve many problems on my 5 non-pro system.

The AMD graphics card is disabled in the BIOS settings. Only the 3060 remains active. This hasn't occurred before when adjusting the BIOS.

It suggests a possible power issue with the backlight. Check for voltage fluctuations that might be affecting performance.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. Could you provide more details?

I can revisit the purchase location in the country where you bought it and demonstrate this situation to them. In Europe, the manufacturer’s warranty would handle it, and the backlight would either be replaced at no cost or you’d receive a fully working laptop.

Yes, but the deadline for returns passed long time ago. Going through Lenovo would be necessary now. Please forgive me—I’m trying to understand how these forums function gfkdhdfg.

In europe you're not required to be inside the return window; the manufacturer caused the problem, which affects the warranty. This issue started early, but it's confusing how Lenovo can deny support for such a significant problem. Are you minimizing the severity when contacting them? It's hard to grasp what's happening. If you mention that your laptop display keeps flashing on and off when turning it on, from the start, they don't offer warranty assistance?

They only gave me basic guidance like "just reset it" the day before I needed help. I tried looking for local assistance but found no Lenovo service centers in my area or nearby. The issue switches between working and broken, and I’m unsure what causes it. Recently, the backlight on my screen flashed on and off during a Discord call.

If you can't locate a solution, you might consider handling the display yourself. My old machine lacks a graphics card and would crash under moderate use, so it’s not ideal. The only functional device is a budget Chromebook I received as a birthday gift. It’s my own equipment, and I should be able to attempt repairs myself. I already have some replacement panels in mind; I just need time after my shoulder surgery to secure the funds.
