this situation is really frustrating and confusing. it seems like every time someone mentions a person from their past, it triggers a lot of irritation. the issue here is that the Windows Store apps won’t open at all—no photos, no games, nothing works. even taking screenshots doesn’t help. when you double-click a file on your desktop, it shows an error saying the app won’t launch. checking the Windows Store for details doesn’t resolve it either. after trying to reinstall, I’m stuck and can’t figure out how to fix MS Photos or the Windows Store itself. i’ve tried everything from admin commands to running a reset tool, but it stops mid-process with a vague error. the system is up to date, yet nothing loads. i’m not sure why the 1903 version isn’t showing up, but I have the latest 1809 available. anyone know what’s going on and how to fix this? it feels like something is seriously wrong.

A brief reboot could fix the problem. When was your last PC restart? Were there any recent changes or updates? You might want to check the Windows settings, go to update and security, troubleshoot, and then restore apps from the Windows Store. If that doesn’t help, run the scan and restore commands as an administrator in CMD. It will take a while.

You might have accidentally affected Windows Update or turned off services. Even though this seems odd, modern applications require certain services to function—like the firewall, cryptographic service, and updates. Are you using any Windows tuning tools? You can review the Event Viewer or use Procmon for details.

i don't rely on any app or program, especially not anything that interferes with windows. i haven't used this tool for years and never encountered this problem before. at first, it said the apps weren't working because i had user account control disabled, which i dislike because of that annoying popup. it was frustrating, but after turning it back on, the issue didn't get resolved.

I power off my PC completely each night and turn it back on when problems appear. That’s the first step I take for any issue. I also tried the CMD command and saw it was running a few days back. I haven’t added any major updates recently. A couple of photo editing programs were installed, but nothing that would impact the Windows Store. I didn’t install anything through the Store either—I rarely use it at all. That’s why I didn’t notice it for a while. Honestly, I have no idea when it started.

I executed the scan previously up to 50% and encountered an issue. I'm now rerunning it and will post the outcome of its incomplete run in this thread. If it fails again, I'll keep updating.

What do you mean it stopped, did it gave an error? SFC and the cleanup image will take some time to complete. If there's no error message and the PC is still running fine, the command is still running. Open task manager and you'll be able to see that there's disk usage.

it didn't stop this time—it finished, claiming it had fixed an error, but the problem persists. I also noticed sticky notes aren't functioning properly. When it reached 50%, it stopped scanning and displayed an error message about why it couldn't continue. I don't remember the exact issue, but I think a clean wipe and fresh installation would be best.

Check the Windows settings, then update and security options. If the issue persists, consider a fresh Windows installation. Avoid registry cleaners as they can cause more problems.

i did what you suggested. the troubleshooter suggested i reset any apps that werent working, so i did, and now theyre all stuck in a dowloading looking phase and arent actually downloading, theyre just stuck like that.. windows store wasnt in the list so there was no way to reset it and thats the root of the issue i think.. how can i reset the windows store? besides cmd wsreset.exe?
