Problem with laptop GPU power consumption.
Problem with laptop GPU power consumption.
I have a two-year-old laptop with an older GPU. It was working fine before, but now I notice frame lags. When I checked, the GPU wasn’t drawing much power—only 15-20 watts, while its TDP is rated at 45 watts. It gets quite hot, around 45 watts. I’ve reinstalled all the drivers and reset the window, but it still doesn’t help. Can someone assist me?
You're experiencing thermal throttling for the first time. Ensure the heat exchangers are clean—dust can lead to significant temperature problems in laptops. If cleaning doesn't resolve it, the issue might be hardware-related, such as outdated thermal paste. The solution involves opening the laptop and reapplying the CPU and GPU paste.
