Problem with laptop functioning on Dell Inspiron 7420 Plus
Hey everyone,
My laptop stopped working. It's a Dell Inspiron 7420 Plus. At first, the power light only came on when I pressed the power button. It stayed on as long as I kept pressing it. Then I tried removing the battery and running it from the charger, after that I took the battery out and pressed the power button for 30 seconds. The result is the keyboard backlight and power light are now steady, but no other changes. Any help would be really appreciated.
Examining this guide suggests removing a single RAM module from its slot. After disconnecting power and the internal battery, press and hold the power button for thirty seconds to discharge any remaining energy. Reconnect the laptop to the wall outlet using the power brick, then check if it starts up and displays a screen. If successful, turn off the device and unplug it, then connect the battery and attempt to boot from it. While the RAM is removed, gently clean the gold contacts on the stick of RAM with an eraser, being careful not to damage any SMD components.
