Problem with Iris Xe graphics settings
Problem with Iris Xe graphics settings
Dell Inspiron 15 3520 features an Intel Core i5-1135g7 with 16GB DDR4 RAM at 3200MHz and Iris Xe graphics. It comes with a 512GB SSD, a 1080p display at 120Hz, and Lenovo T14 Gen 2 hardware. The Intel processor runs at 80W, while the Lenovo uses more power. At full resolution and settings, the Dell GPU stays around 55-75% usage, but the Lenovo reaches 80-100% with stuttering. When unlimiting frames per second, the Lenovo hits about 60-70fps compared to the Dell's 100-120fps. The difference may stem from how each chip handles memory and graphics workloads, not just cooling issues.
You may also want to review the UEFI settings for your ThinkPad regarding graphics memory allocation. I experienced a similar problem when switching from an HD620 to Xe graphics, where the system was set to use 64MB of video memory. Adjusting it back to 512MB fixed the stuttering issue.
