You're having trouble getting power to the screen of your grandma's iPhone 5S. It's showing messages but the display isn't working. This could be due to a faulty battery, loose connections, or hardware issues. Try checking the charging port, ensuring it's securely connected, and testing with a different charger. If the problem persists, consider professional repair.

Check the screen with a bright flashlight in a dim room. Try touching the device and see if it responds. Another simple test is to place your finger on the screen and listen for any reaction.

I possessed the brightest flashlight I had, placed it close to the iPhone, but it didn’t function. The touch worked, allowing me to create an iTunes backup of the device.
