Problem with internet speed on Windows 11
Fios gigabit service using G3100 router began acting oddly about two weeks ago on my Windows machine. It had trouble loading YouTube videos and would only stream at 144p when it worked. Emails also failed to send. Speed tests indicated download speeds were normal (~900 Mbps), but upload was very low (~0.3 Mbps). On speedtest-dot-net the upload showed as good (~900 Mbps), though other devices on the network—both wired and wireless—performed normally. I ran diagnostics, confirmed no recent Windows updates, manually updated the Intel Ethernet driver, but the problem persisted. Bypassing the router and connecting directly to the ONT box resolved it. A forum comment suggested checking the adapter settings for Intel Ethernet NIC and disabling IPv6 TCP Checksum Offload. After making that change, the issue disappeared. I noted this in case others encounter similar problems. It remains unclear why it started, possibly due to a Verizon firmware update. I don’t have access to their firmware versions or release dates.
