Intel 13 and 14th generation processors have issues when exposed to specific conditions. AMD Ryzen offers superior performance while using less power, resulting in reduced heat. Intel graphics cards are becoming more efficient with each generation, making them a practical choice for those on a tighter budget.
They no longer stand out in the gaming scene, which is why most people focus on AMD versus Intel. AMD consistently outperforms Intel with their X3D processors and even entry-level models like the 7600/x, which are strong choices. See this review from Hardware Unboxed—we’re using 1080p at medium settings while stressing the CPU with an RTX 5090. On average, we get nearly 100 frames per second more with a 9800X3D compared to a 265k. In Norway, the 265k costs about 70 dollars more than the 265k. The 265k has more cores, which helps with productivity. Intel isn’t perfect, but it’s not great either. I’ve used Intel for years; my first AMD CPU was a 7700x and now I own a 9800X3D. As a gamer, I’m not considering Intel’s latest models right now—they just don’t match up. Intel’s newer 13th and 14th generation chips have reliability issues and consume more power than many AMD alternatives. I really hope Intel can regain its edge and compete effectively. We all understand the need for healthy competition in this market. Intel is developing its own X3D 3DV-Cache CPUs for 2026/2027.
Absolutely, it's true! You'll notice a drop in quality at higher resolutions like 1440p or 4k, especially with more demanding settings. For gaming, Intel isn't really worth considering anymore unless you're on a tighter budget. If you're looking for value, the Intel 12400F is a solid choice in that range. This video is decent overall, with a clear summary starting around the 12:40 mark. Keep in mind that the Ryzen 7000 series CPUs are quite old by now, along with the 13th and 14th generation Intel chips.
The 9800X3D is a premium model from AMD, priced high and not suitable for everyone. It was created to highlight one of AMD's gaming CPUs compared to Intel's latest options. AMD also offers the 9950X3D, which has double the cores of the 9800X3D. While Intel still delivers solid performance, you might consider a Ryzen 7700x or 9600x if your main use is gaming. The video linked above shows the performance gap. It also varies based on the specific Intel CPU and your intended use. A 13700k or 14700k will still perform well, especially if the price fits your needs. Be aware that Intel has faced reliability issues with recent generations of processors. I’ll respond tomorrow at 2:30 AM. I need some sleep.
That's clear. It looks like you're leaning toward AMD and appreciate the help. Thanks!
It could appear I have concerns about Intel, but I’m actually quite supportive. I truly believe they should continue offering improved options to maintain a fair market. My needs are mainly for gaming, and I can’t suggest Intel unless there’s a solid deal available.
