Problem with integrated graphics solutions
Motherboard: MSI B250M - BIOS E7A65IMS.140 27/06/2017
CPU: Intel i5-6400
GPU: MSI RX580
RAM: Kingston DDR4 2x16
Power Supply: Corsair CP-9020102-UK CX550M 550 W 80
OS: Arch Linux
Windows manager: QTile on X11
Two months prior everything functioned properly, operating with the RX580 via HDMI. After turning it off, wrapping it in bubble wrap, and shipping it, it arrived recently. I powered it on immediately. Using the RX580 as before, the BIOS splash screen appeared and booting proceeded. However, once connected to the display manager through X11, the screen ceased functioning. All other components remained operational, allowing successful SSH access.
Considering it might be after two months that the CMOS battery failed, I replaced it, but no improvement was observed. I can enter the BIOS using the RX580, so I switched the boot order to prioritize it. This adjustment prevented the RX580 from running while still enabling the integrated graphics to activate once the display manager was active. Resetting the BIOS was necessary again to regain access via the RX580 card.
I’m able to operate the system with the integrated graphics, which isn’t a significant problem, but I wanted to seek advice from others about what might be happening. Thank you.
When a discrete graphics card is installed, integrated graphics are typically turned off. If you wish to use both, the setting must be activated in the BIOS. The option is referred to as "Multi-monitor" (or a similar term depending on the BIOS manufacturer). Verify your BIOS configuration.
Thank you for the response. When working with integrated graphics, I remove the RX580 card initially. I anticipate that without it detected, the integrated graphics would activate immediately, though it remains inactive until the X11 display manager is engaged.
