Problem with HP printer and Office 365?
Problem with HP printer and Office 365?
Hello and thank you for your assistance.
I own an HP M148 printer for three years now, and it has always worked smoothly over Wi-Fi. Recently, I upgraded my Microsoft Office 365, but whenever I print, the printer appears offline on both my computer and my wife's device. The WIFI indicator on the printer is solid blue, indicating a connection. In the Control Panel, I right-clicked on the printer, selected "Printer Properties," and went to the "Port" section. When trying to configure the port, I received an error: "An error occurred during port configuration. This operation is not supported." I’m unsure what changed after installing Office 365 and am worried about keeping the printer online.
Another point: if I restart my computer each time, it should print correctly. This has never happened before. Should I consider uninstalling and reinstalling the printer?
Additionally, I attempted to contact HP support, but they suggested a remote connection that would take 60 to 90 minutes and cost $59.95. Is this a scam?
Thank you.
I believe the initial step should be to preserve any relevant network printer settings. Review all printer entries in "devices" and remove or delete them. Proceed with a fresh installation and check if functionality is restored.
Have you checked for a driver update?
There appear to be fairly recent drivers listed on the support page, such as one from August 12, 2022.
And for reference, here are the details:
"On a side note, I attempted to contact HP support, but they suggested remote access which would take 60 to 90 minutes to fix for a price of $59.95. Is this a scam?"
URL?
Just because "hp" appears in the link doesn’t confirm it’s a genuine HP website.
I’m not sure, full disclosure—whether this link is safe or not is unclear. However, I’d be cautious. The desire for remote access combined with the need to pay is a red flag.
It’s possible the issue can be resolved by following the advice given, and possibly checking HP’s FAQs or forums.
