Problem with headphones and microphone?
There seems to be an issue with the headphones not producing any sound at all, except when connected to a monitor. The only way they function is through a PC monitor, and the microphone also doesn't work properly. It appears there might be a problem with the audio output or connection settings. I tried reinstalling Windows but the problem persists.

What is the model and make of the computer's enclosure? Are there two distinct ports—one for headphones and another for microphones—or is there a single port serving both functions? If it's the latter, an adapter might be necessary.
Is the cable used for connecting headphones to your monitor a USB3 port or an audio lead with 3.5mm stereo jacks at each end? Explore the Windows Control Panel, choose Sounds, tap the Playback tab and navigate through the list of playback devices to identify which one you're using. Your current audio output is listed as Dell UP3017, meaning your monitor is connected via USB for audio on its speakers and HDMI for video. Audio from your PC travels through USB to the monitor, where it's transformed into sound by a DAC codec before reaching the speakers. To connect your headphones properly, switch the Playback device in Sounds to Headphones. Ensure Windows is configured to use the correct output settings.
in both situations there is just a buzzing noise, i'm not sure if it's a sound card issue on the motherboard, since this seems to have happened suddenly without any prior problems.
