my desktop has DTS Audio Control and it treats my headphones the same as my speaker, but it doesn't recognize them as output devices, so I can't use them as a microphone. i've checked disabling devices and just want to use my microphone in the headphones.
You might be facing a connection issue. The TS, TRS, TRRS [Tip, Sleeve, Ring] connectors could have a mismatch in their physical or pinout setup, and the standard they use may differ from what the audio devices require. This could even involve proprietary settings.

When you access the Windows - Settings- Apps - Installed Apps menu, it shows up as an application you can remove.
