Problem with GTX 970 failing to recognize power connectors.
Problem with GTX 970 failing to recognize power connectors.
Hello. I recently bought an MSI GTX 970 Gaming for $10, which is mostly just a decorative piece. The seller said it worked before he last checked, but hasn't been used in a while. It was kept in an ESD safe bag. When I tried to test it, even with both power connectors plugged in, it showed the error message: "Please power down and connect PCIe power cables." I've used two different PSUs—one that works perfectly in my main AM4 setup and another in a 1156 system with enough room. I’ve taken it apart to check for damage, but the PCB appears untouched. Would you like more troubleshooting steps? I’m open to using a multimeter if needed.
Inspect the connectors for signs of corrosion. If none found, you might have been scammed.
You basically purchased a $10 scratch-off lottery ticket and lost. Not a big deal. It’s e-waste. Grab a used 3060Ti from a miner for $285 and stop there.
