Hey there, since I upgraded my motherboard from MSI B450 Tomahawk Max to X570 Tomahawk, I've faced some posting problems. It would loop endlessly before successfully flashing the EZbug CPU, which usually takes 2 to 5 minutes. After checking everything, I realized the slow posting might be caused by the PCIE riser cable. Even though I used the same CM vertical mount and riser as before, there was no issue then. To fix the problem, I manually changed the BIOS setting for PCIE_1 to GEN3 instead of letting it auto. If I tried GEN4, the issue persisted. It seems the motherboard and CPU might be struggling to communicate with the GPU through the PCIe riser. I also tested by placing the riser in a secondary PCIe slot, and it worked fine—posting and booting were normal. The same happened with the B450, so it’s possible the issue lies with the motherboard or BIOS configuration. The BIOS seems up to date, but I’m still unsure what’s causing it.
x570 boards support Gen4 PCIe connections, which means using a Gen3 riser cable might not work properly. Consider switching to the secondary or tertiary PCIe slots if available. Alternatively, continue using what you have; older components are fine as long as they work with the current tech.
