Help! My A1 B1 & B2 slots aren't working on my motherboard. I have a Gigabyte Z690 with DDR5 gaming RAM and two 16GB DDR5 4800 units. When I put the RAM in A2 and B2, the system won’t boot and the RAM light stays on. But when I remove it from B2, it boots fine. I thought maybe the RAM was faulty, but swapping it didn’t help. My motherboard details are: Gigabyte Z690 DDR5 gaming x Intel 12900K, Arctic Liquid Freezer II cooler, two 16GB DDR5 RAM sticks, and a Gigabyte RTX 3070 Ti with 80+ Gold power supply. I’m confused about why it doesn’t work.

The precise part number for the RAM isn't specified. Based on the memory support list, the ADATA RAM is generally limited to a single slot, though one model is confirmed to work with two slots.

Gigabyte experienced some RAM compatibility problems recently. Are you using the latest BIOS version? All three BIOS updates enhance support for DDR5.

Initial thought points to poor memory controller in the CPU. Consider attempting a CMOS reset to assist confirmation

This problem has been ongoing. I previously sent back a Z690. My advice is to purchase a Z790 with a DDR5 compatible chipset or move to AMD AM5, which is what I chose.
