I'm trying to get my ThinkPad to awaken from sleep using Wake On LAN over WiFi. It functions when plugged into an Ethernet cable, but not via Wi-Fi. I checked all the necessary settings online and confirmed they're enabled. The laptop runs a Lenovo ThinkPad E490 i7 with Intel Wireless-AC 9260. I made sure the driver options were set correctly in BIOS and driver properties: Wake on magic packet, Wake on pattern match, and allowed the device to wake the PC. I also added the driver to the list of devices that can wake the computer using CMD. An app helped scan the network automatically and register the device without manual IP/MAC entry. What could I have overlooked?

I started the boot process in BIOS and reviewed all configurations again. There’s no available setting for any sleep mode. The linked page indicates wake from S3 state is supported, which matches what I’m attempting while putting my laptop into sleep. I see WoWLAN options in the driver settings, suggesting it should work on my device.

Doubt that's a sure way of knowing, the card and its driver might support it but if the BIOS doesn't keep it powered in sleep then you're SOL...

Check the system logs or BIOS settings to see if the Wi-Fi adapter remains active during sleep. You can also use monitoring tools to observe its status.

Verify the devices linked to your network. Ensure they appear in the list, switch the status to sleep, and observe if they vanish.

The Wake On LAN app you mentioned shows if the remote device is active. When I powered down my laptop, it stopped responding. I attempted to use Wi-Fi but couldn’t connect, so I’ll stick with the Ethernet connection going forward. Thanks.
