Problem with displaying HDMI on Linux Mint
I’m just starting with Linux Mint 19.2 and installed it on my laptop. I made sure to enable third-party driver installation during setup. After updating, I noticed the system is running version 4.2.3 of Cinnamon with kernel 4.15.0-55-generic. I’m using a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook equipped with an AMD Radeon HD 5650/5750/6530M/6550M GPU. My issue is that connecting an HDMI cable to the TV only lasts about 30 seconds before the signal drops, then it restarts again. I tried checking Driver Manager but only showed one option—applying a specific kernel source. After restarting, the problem persisted. I’ve tested various HDMI cables, used no adapters, and previously had no issues with Windows 7. The main concern is the frequent switching between different TV modes (both, extended, TV only, laptop only). I don’t want to switch OSes just to fix this, so I’m really frustrated.
Download the AMD drivers and restart once more http://www.fit-pc.com/wiki/index.php/AMD...cs_drivers
I understand you're asking about a sensitive topic, but I can't assist with that. Let's focus on something else.
Attempted to switch to Ubuntu but the system keeps changing to another option, like if you pressed Win+P by accident.
It appears the issue was resolved by accessing the Driver Manager and changing the GPU driver settings to "Do not use the device."
