Was asked by a coworker to examine her daughter's laptop. It's a Dell 5520 that won't turn on. I removed both memory sticks without success. The power button lights up and the CAPS lock works, but then they shut off completely. I also unplugged the battery and tried to power it using just the PSU, but nothing happened.
I'm considering the board might be the issue, but I don't know if anyone else has ideas I can try.

I tried this with my friend's MacBook Pro that had never turned on for three years. I removed the battery, pressed the power button to drain any remaining power, reinserted the battery, let it rest, then connected it back to the wall and turned it on. It worked.
