Problem with CS2 shader causing PC to freeze
Hello, I'm experiencing a problem where the game displays these black shaders and they keep flickering throughout. This issue occurred in other high-graphics games and some DirectX12 titles. After a while, my screen, mouse, and keyboard freeze, and I can't open Task Manager. The fix is to restart the PC, which happens whenever I play for more than 5 hours. The GPU temperature reaches 67°C, CPU around 62°C, and the GPU model is EVGA GTX 760 SC with ACX Cooler.
Hello, your VRAM usage is currently at 1.7 GB out of 2 GB while running games. Despite this, you're experiencing freezes. I checked if ordering an RX 6600 8 GB graphics card would help, but for now I'm looking for solutions to prevent crashes and possibly reduce VRAM consumption. If the issue is related to VRAM, let me know!
The 6600 works well. Installing DDU to remove the nvidia drivers before adding the AMD drivers is a smart move. If issues arise, feel free to contact me again.
There remains an obstacle preventing your game from loading. Do you have an extra hard drive? If so, swapping in a different one and installing Windows from scratch would be beneficial. The aim is to launch a brand new Windows environment to determine if the problem disappears entirely. Should the issue continue, it indicates a hardware fault. You might also try installing a fresh Windows on your existing boot drive, but be sure to back up all important data first. I’m unsure of other potential causes since your temperatures are normal and the monitor is functioning correctly. Good luck!
Could it be the HDMI cable? My display goes black, then freezes when I try to restore it, and it reverses after a short time. Also, my screen turns completely black when I switch on or off the lights in my room, but it doesn’t freeze entirely. The CS2 shader problem has been resolved, though the "hard freeze" remains.
A simple method is to switch to a different HDMI cable. These are very affordable and keeping extra ones on hand makes sense. This situation shouldn’t occur. It’s likely your lights share the same circuit breaker as your computer, but they shouldn’t interfere with its performance (or the display). There might be an issue with the electrical wiring or the lighting itself.
