Hello everyone, I’m checking if I’ve shared this correctly.
Benchmark reference: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/46244398
My setup is as follows:
Mob0: B550 Aourus Elite V.1
Processor: Ryzen 7 3700x 8-core, 16-thread
GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 Super XC Ultra
RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3600 (PC4 28800) Intel XMP 2.0 Desktop Memory Model F4-3600C16D-16GVKC
I also run at 1440p.
The PC is really pushing me. This is my first rig I’ve saved for four years to achieve. There should be no issues at all with smooth playback of Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Hunt: Showdown, or even Minecraft. Everything is current regarding drivers and firmware. Tests are passing, but I still encounter inconsistent frames, stutters, and screen tearing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated—I’m at my limit.

Begin by verifying your PSU cables and ensuring the RAM stick fits properly. If you recently overclocked the CPU, it might be a contributing factor.

Install DDU, remove the GPU driver, then download and reinstall it (disable Windows Update). Restart your system.

Run Intel Burn Test or AIDA and execute it for ten minutes, monitoring temperature and power usage.

Install MSI Afterburner and RTSS, again paying attention to temperature and power metrics.

This setup works well; my PSU is the same (i7 10700k, 1080 Ti, 16GB DDR4 3600MHz). I only experience stuttering in Forza Horizon 4 on certain scenes, but no issues elsewhere.

Have you attempted a new Windows setup? To address a software problem, I’ll perform a fresh installation and install only the motherboard and GPU drivers along with a few games. How are the GPU and CPU temperatures during gaming?

Yes, I can use MSI Afterburner. I'll check the temperatures after I get home from work. Since I'm new to PC gaming, I'm still learning some terms and which software works best.

So I did a complete clean install. I even got rid of the Windows and Nvidia's driver bloatware. It seems to play Hunt: Showdown at it's highest settings more consistently than before, with a stutter happening every 2o mins or so, but I believe that may have been packet loss(Not sure if packet loss causes something like that). However, Mass Effect Legendary Edition plays much the same with constant choppiness and screen tearing. Also, the CPU stays between 75-80 degrees under load ( I think that's the term for it). Here is the latest benchmark I did:

I performed a full system reset. I also removed the Windows and Nvidia driver bloatware. It now runs Hunt: Showdown at its highest settings more reliably than before, though it still experiences stutters roughly every 20 minutes. I’m not sure if packet loss is the cause, but it does seem to happen. Mass Effect Legendary Edition behaves similarly, with ongoing choppiness and screen tearing. Additionally, the CPU usage stays between 75-80% during load (this is likely the term used). Here’s the latest benchmark I ran: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/46279583
