Hi there, I see you're facing some network challenges. Let's try to clarify what might be going on. You mentioned having a 100 Mbps fiber connection, with a modem linked to a dual-band router. The speed drops to half when reconnecting the Ethernet cable from the WAN port, and ping tests reveal duplicate packets. This issue continues even when using another router. Connecting a laptop directly to the modem via Ethernet keeps you at full speed. You've already checked things like cable placement, interference, and device removal, but haven't found a solution. It seems the problem might be related to how your device is receiving the signal or interacting with the network interface. Have you tried resetting the router or checking for firmware updates? Also, ensure your laptop's Wi-Fi settings are correctly configured. Let me know if you'd like further guidance!

The issue isn't likely with the router itself; another device on the network might share the same IP address as your client or the router's default gateway (often 192.168.x.1).

Sure! Would you like me to explain how to assign a static IP from the router's DHCP to your laptop?

I came to the same conclusion after learning about duplicate packets during ping tests, yet during testing only one device was linked to the router, with no additional clients present.

Yes, you're asking about configuring the router to make something static.

The router can assign an IP address directly to a MAC address once it receives the IP through DHCP.

It seems you're testing a hypothesis about the router. Could you share the brand and model details? Also, how recent is the device?

I followed your advice but the issue continues. The router I received is an Olax X50 that came with the service, while the one I use for testing is a TP-Link WR941ND with DD-WRT. I assumed something was wrong, but why does the TP-Link act the same way?
