Hey everyone, I’m facing a strange problem with my network. When I try to download large files—like games—I lose Wi-Fi connection. It happens whenever I connect via Ethernet, not wireless. I think the issue might be on my router side, but I’m not sure. My device is a Nighthawk X6 (model AC3200, probably the 8000 series). I’ve had consistent problems since buying it a year ago. I’m using Spectrum’s gigabit internet, but the problem disappears when I switch to the ISP router. I have two 5GHz channels and use them for streaming, so there’s a lot of Wi-Fi activity. Any advice would be really helpful!

does it stop functioning or just fail? if it stops connecting it's unusual. if it doesn't respond at all, it might mean you've exhausted your bandwidth... you could slow down downloads so other devices aren't affected.

It reduces speed for five minutes before stopping completely. It might be due to high bandwidth usage, though this isn’t unusual with a good router and strong internet connection.

varies by situation. I experienced similar issues with my older Linksys 4200 model. It seems some providers configure their equipment in ways that might affect other routers negatively.

It seems my ISP might be the issue. Spectrum is really problematic. I’m considering enabling QoS to see if it improves things. It probably won’t help much, though—it just reduces overall bandwidth and lowers performance.
