Seeking fresh suggestions or assistance. Unable to install the latest BIOS despite all efforts. Began with a fresh 16 GB USB 2.0 drive, initialized it to FAT 32. Applied the rename script included with the download to change the BIOS file name. Utilized the BIOS Flashback port, adhering to all instructions. Still nothing. The flashlight remains on continuously. No Q-code displayed on the Mobo. System starts normally, but no BIOS update occurs. Tested a 4 GB USB 2.0 drive formatted as FAT 16. BIOS Flashback encountered identical issues. Attempted EZ Flash in BIOS, first with the 4 GB and then the 16 GB drive. Initially, EZ Flash listed storage devices as inactive. Pressing escape exited to a menu where it detected the new BIOS file. Selecting it caused a freeze and nothing proceeded. A b4 Q-code labeled "USB Hotplug" appeared, but its meaning is unclear. Required a hard reboot to restore functionality. Once resolved, everything boots correctly. I’m still unsure what’s happening. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. This build is brand new. I completed Windows installation, updated chipset and drivers, and ran the Windows update.

Did you open the file after saving it? ASUS EZ Flash simplifies updating the BIOS.

You need to unzip the file first to access it, then rename it using the tool inside the zip folder. I attempted to use EZ Flash when the Flashback port didn't work, but it didn't succeed twice. I'm not sure why this happened. Others have shared similar experiences, so I expected to face a challenge. LOL

Impressive, really. It seems like most responses are just thrown out without real effort. I’m a bit puzzled—how can simple questions get answers this easily? Or maybe I should just accept that this part is too easy for me.

They didn't improve response time by adding salt. Have you attempted to reset the CMOS?

*shrugs* In my experience neither does repeated bumps if people are simply breezing past assuming you're making some basic mistake like not reading instructions or not unzipping the file. It's also super aggravating to provide a list of things already done to defer the usual initial questions and show that yes you're doing the basic things like unzipping, and more, and then be asked if you've unzipped the file. Sure, many people here may not respond because they have no idea, but someone has to have some thoughts to offer. To that point, thank you for replying. I do appreciate it. No, I haven't tried resetting the CMOS yet because the Motherboard manual recommends not to unless absolutely necessary and in the case of failed BIOS update it says your shouldn't - but then that may mean specifically a corrupted BIOS. the manual isn't always very exacting. Perhaps it is something I should try when I get home tonight.

I apologize for posting this twice. I prefer resolving issues instead of leaving them unresolved. To share my solution: it was mainly about the USB connection. It could be a hidden partition or the partition itself was becoming corrupted—especially with the older USB model. Important tips: For ASUS systems, using Flashback or EZFlash works best with USBs that are 4GB or less. While any format is technically possible, FAT32 tends to perform better. Ensure the USB is 2.0 and connected via a USB 2.0 port. When the USB wouldn<|pad|> to not read properly, I opened Command Prompt and ran partdisk to clean, re-partition, and reformat it. Then I re-downloaded the BIOS and followed the instructions again.

I resolved it. I faced the same issue. My BIOS was version 905 regardless of how I updated it (BIOS button, EZ flash win, EZ update BIOS). Nothing worked. I tried a 2 GB, 4 GB, FAT and FAT 32 flash disk, but it didn’t help. I couldn’t update to version 1401. I downloaded the file through Chrome, but it couldn’t be read as a BIOS file. Then I switched to Microsoft Edge and got the file successfully. Now both files are present, identical in size (16 MB). The Chrome version failed, while the Edge version worked. The file from Edge is now usable everywhere!
