Problem with audio output not functioning properly.
The sound on my computer stopped working without any apparent cause. It hasn't changed, updated, or been affected by plugging in or removing devices. I hadn't turned it off, and I was using a game that functioned properly. After closing the game and the launcher, I resumed with a YouTube video while launching my game—still nothing happened. My system is fully AMD, with a Ryzen 3000, b450, and an RX 5700 XT. I use an LG speaker setup connected to the audio output from the MOBO, and my headphones are routed through an audio control output. I attempted to reinstall the audio drivers, tried using speakers instead of headphones, reinstalled Windows, ran the audio troubleshooter, and even disconnected everything except my headphones directly into the front input of the case. Updated Windows didn't help. I'm worried someone might be able to assist without touching the hardware, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Some simple things that might have gotten overlooked: Is your computer muted? Is the program playing audio muted? Is the volume high enough to hear? Are you selecting the right audio output when testing different devices? If all of those are fine, I think the answer is your motherboard's audio hardware stopped working. Try getting audio out of an HDMI port, USB audio device, or bluetooth, and if any of those work I'd say it's all but guaranteed. If that's the case there are plenty of USB audio devices out there to replace your motherboard's audio. Apple's USB C audio dongle with a USB C to A adapter (or just straight if your computer has USB C ports) is an easy solution to recommend.
