Problem with Audio on Windows 11 - Computer Microphone Captures Desktop Sounds
I’ve faced the same audio problem since last December. I attempted various solutions but haven’t found a clear answer. The main concern is that my microphone constantly picks up desktop audio and there’s a persistent buzzing sound whenever I try to record. Even after replacing the mic, the issue remained. It could be related to the XLR cable, as I didn’t switch it when purchasing the new one. I updated and turned off multiple drivers, disabled enhancements in the sound manager, and tried several other methods. It’s been a cycle of repeated attempts with little progress. The only relief came when adjusting my gain to a point where I had to shout for the mic to be heard, though it still didn’t resolve the background noise or my game. I searched online and used ChatGPT, but those efforts didn’t help much. If you have any advice or know how to fix this, your guidance would be greatly appreciated. This problem has been really frustrating for me.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
Open the Control Panel in Start>Hardware and Sound>Sound>Recording tab>Choose your default recording device>Properties>Listen tab, verify if the option to listen to this device is active. If it is, uncheck it and observe any changes.
This would be a suitable moment to discuss your audio gear and its connection to your system.
the "listen to device" feature is turned off. I'm using windows 11 with a 3.5mm jack and an AT2020 condenser mic that requires phantom power. Let me know if you need more details.
