Problem with Asus X99 deluxe: Unable to access BIOS and display black screen.
Hello everyone, I recently bought a used system mainly for the GTX 1080 Ti inside it, but it won’t boot or enter BIOS. It powers on and the MOBO’s LEDs, including the Q code LED, activate during their POST sequence, after which the Q code typically halts at 95 as described in the manual. I’ve connected it to the American Megatrends monitor several times, and the Q code stops at A9 when that occurs. Pressing F1 to start setup results in the screen going black and nothing appearing. My attempts so far include breadboarding just the CPU, cooler, RAM, and GPU. I’ve tried one stick of RAM and four different configurations with varying setups. The CPU has been re-seated multiple times. I’ve also experimented with the known working GTX 1080 Ti and RTX 2060 in different PCIe lanes, attempted a BIOS flashback, but it doesn’t seem to finish properly— the flashback button stays solid blue. I ran the system without a boot drive, and the specs are: MOBO- Asus x99 Deluxe CPU, I7 5930k GPU, RTX 2060 (from another computer that works). The PSU is Corsair HX1000i. Could anyone suggest what’s going on? Is the MOBO completely dead? I thought so because all the LEDs are working and it made it to the American Megatrends screen. UPDATE: I’ve tried entering BIOS multiple times, but results are inconsistent and I still can’t boot. The VGA LED stays on and Q code 96 appears. Thanks, Craig.
