I have recently noticed in the Battlefield 2042 beta that i was getting 300 ping and then also found i get the same issue with Rainbow Six Seige, which appears to be a router problem of some sort. I tried many things on my RT-AC5300 Asus router before finally trying to completely turn off the firewall, which fixes the issue i was having. Although I assume having the firewall completely disabled is not ideal, my attempts to figure out how to allow content through the firewall have not gone well and I could use assistance with this problem please

I wish I could assist, but due to comparable issues I ended up purchasing another non-ASUS router. After testing three models of their high-end and top-tier devices, I strongly recommend avoiding Asus network hardware. It comes with all the bells and whistles, extra antennas, and such, but the software is so basic it gives me the impression it was written by students. You might want to explore Asuswrt-Merlin—a custom operating system for Asus routers that’s been modified by former employees. If this doesn’t resolve the problem, I hope you’re still under warranty and can return it for a fully functional unit.

I've faced problems with the router several times, but considering the expense of replacing it, I've stayed connected using Merlin firmware. Occasionally issues still occur. I resolved my problem by disabling firewall logging, which suggests the device was struggling to record real-time activity and possibly blocking connections or generating errors. The number of troubleshooting steps I took to identify the issue was surprising, and I hadn't found any details about this before. Regarding brands with mesh options, I don’t have a strong preference, but I’d recommend looking into models from brands like TP-Link, Netgear, or Ubiquiti that offer mesh networking capabilities.

It was some time since then. I acquired a Netgear (r7800) that was more affordable, not flawless but reliable. Still needed to install a custom OS again, but once that was done it ran smoothly for my requirements. It isn’t extremely fast, nor does it offer the top Wi-Fi speeds, but it’s dependable. (minimal lag and ample bandwidth within the network)

ASUS are pretty highly regarded, if you've fixed the issue and it works well I wouldn't replace it.

My Asus GT-AX11000 is really problematic. I experience frequent disconnections. When I switch to Wi-Fi occasionally, it drops for a short time. Testing with the eBay app on the phone and the router’s red light for just a few seconds caused issues. My ISP was contacted, the modem was replaced, and service returned normally. I tried an older Linksys model, which resolved the problem (though still limited by age). Using Merlin firmware with Cake QoS helped, whether or not a firewall is active. After re-flashing to the original ASUS firmware post-November updates, the issue persists. I’ve tried everything possible to achieve stability. I suspect the problem relates to the firewall, Wi-Fi settings, and the number of devices connected. My next step is to tackle this with serious determination—maybe invest in better equipment.

I updated Merlin to the newest release. Then installed FlexQos and Skynet using putty. A few configuration steps were needed, but the unexpected drops are resolved. The network feels significantly smoother now. Let me know if this assists anyone.
