Hello, I'm trying to establish a wireless connection on a new PC using the Asus N53 adapter. At first, I used the setup utility CD and it worked fine, but I couldn't detect any 5 GHz networks. I tried a quick YouTube tutorial, but it didn't help—I installed the driver but the adapter still wouldn't show up. Later, I downloaded the official drivers from Asus and attempted manual installation, which also failed. Now the adapter works perfectly when plugged in, requiring no driver or utility (PnP), yet it stops working on my PC altogether. Could you assist with this issue? Thank you.

Verify functionality across various computers and laptops. Disable and delete any Wi-Fi adapter drivers, then perform a fresh or clean installation...quick tip!

It functions right away after connecting it to your laptop, which you shared in your post. I’ll try a new installation now.

Remove outdated drivers before a fresh installation, as conflicts between them can cause issues.

You can try other methods to remove the software, such as checking the system settings or searching for its installation files online.

Windows 10 seems odd with WiFi adapters. You're not alone in facing issues on this system. Usually, you can remove drivers through Device Manager. Avoid installing extra utilities that come with these adapters—some include unnecessary tools for network connection. Stick to the built-in software. You might try downloading it from the vendor's site, but be prepared for uncertainty.

During the removal process, you may see a warning that the adapter needs to be connected first. Since it shows up as an unrecognized device, the driver might not be handling the uninstall properly.

Have you considered running it in safe mode?

So weird, I just tried installing it using my CD and it worked again but still no 5 GHz functionality, maybe I should just buy a new one

Most USB WiFi adapters are not reliable, except for PCI Express models when required.
