Hello everyone, here’s a brief overview of my experience with this PC setup. It has worked well before using a Gigabyte B450 DS3H board and the Ryzen 2600 processor. I recently bought a refurbished motherboard, specifically the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Elite AX. My system runs with a Ryzen 2600 and 3700x, and I recently received a 5600x. When installing the new board, I updated the BIOS to support the latest chipset. The update completed successfully, and the BIOS was fully installed.

The issue began during the swap from the 3700x to the 5600x. My son interrupted me while I was working, and some leftover thermal paste landed on the CPU socket. I attempted to clean it carefully using isopropyl alcohol and specialized pins designed for 3D printer print heads (4mm pins in 4.75mm sockets). I spent a considerable amount of time soaking the area and gently removing debris with a hair dryer. After about an hour, most of the paste was cleared.

Once everything was dry, I reinstalled the board and successfully booted up with my Ryzen 2600. To verify stability, I ran Cinebench, Heaven, and a memory test—all passed without issues. I’m aware these tests aren’t exhaustive, but they helped identify potential problems.

After resetting the BIOS, I tried installing the 5600x again. The system didn’t boot. I tested the 3700x as well, but it also failed to power on. When I reinserted the 2600, it worked perfectly. If it doesn’t power up at all, the motherboard likely lacks BIOS access, and the PSU switch is probably cutting power.

To resolve this, I followed these steps:
- Disconnected power and waited 10 minutes to ensure a full BIOS reset before changing CPUs.
- Removed some RAM modules (switched from 4x8GB to 2x8GB) to rule out memory issues.
- Unplugged non-essential peripherals, except for the necessary ones like USB keyboard and monitor.
- Checked for error codes—none were present.
- Swapped CPUs multiple times; the 2600 always booted fine.

Since there’s no error code display, diagnosis is tricky. I suspect the newer CPUs might have different pin configurations that the 2600 doesn’t support, or the socket holes could be damaged during cleaning. I’m open to suggestions—anyone have insights?

You didn't provide details about the RAM specifications. It seems unclear if the 3700X and 5600X are compatible or if DOCP is active. Are your configurations accurate? Also, do you mean restoring the BIOS to its previous version? That could explain the issue, since some boards might revert to factory settings. Just a note, please double-check the BIOS version on your board.

Tried a different RAM module. Corsair LPX 2133 didn’t work. Still using 2600 boots. Can’t get 3700x to boot either.

Ryzens perform better with Crucial Ballistix. I’m sure that’s true. It’s likely the Ryzen doesn’t like Corsair accessories. Disabling DOCP could also be contributing to the issue. Using optimized defaults might bring you back to the original BIOS, which seems to be the case. The original BIOS version is probably the root of the problem. They provide certain models confirmed for Ryzen compatibility. I plan to replace the B550 Aorus Elite with a B450 DS3H and run tests to verify everything functions properly. This will help ensure the CPUs are still operational.

Updated with the Gigabyte B450M-DS3H and Ryzen 2600, BIOS refreshed. System functions smoothly on both 2600 and 3700x configurations, supporting full 32GB or Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM. The 5600x remains unresponsive; I’d consider it a failure if it was the sole CPU failing in both setups. The 3700x only supports the B450 board, not the B550. I’m stuck on what to do next.
