I own my computer since late 2017/early 2018. Its details are: CPU – Intel Core i7-8700k, Motherboard – Gigabyte Z370 Aorus Gaming, RAM – 4x 8GB, Graphics – MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, PSU – EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2, Power Supply – 750W, Original Storage – 500GB Samsung 960 EVO NVMe SSD, 3TB Seagate Barracuda Serial ATA III. As space on my Samsung SSD dwindled, I upgraded to a 4TB Crucial P3 Plus bought during Black Friday. I copied data from the old SSD to the new one using Acronis software, set the new drive as priority in BIOS, and most functions seemed to work until... I attempted to wake the PC from sleep. With both drives installed, it restarted instead of waking. Removing either drive caused normal sleep recovery. I’ve tried several fixes: turned off fast startup, adjusted power settings (PCIe Link State Power Management OFF, LPM disabled, BIOS aggressive settings off), updated power options, and checked for PCIe conflicts. The manual said to verify PCIe lane usage. I ran Memtest86 and all tests passed. Pagefile settings were varied. Event viewer flagged a critical kernel power error (ID 41). I’ve removed the Samsung SSD temporarily to keep the system running and to avoid sleep interruptions, but it’s frustrating not being able to use both drives together. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

No, I did not place the new SSD in the slot that held the previous one.

Hi, I put the new SSD into the slot that was previously used by the old one. The new Crucial SSD is now in the main, top M.2 position. I've placed it in both the middle and bottom M.2 slots without success, and sleep problems still occur.

You might consider adjusting the alarm clock settings to see if it helps. In reality, it could also activate your computer to restart. If successful, it might restore or improve the wake-up feature. Always keep an eye on the results.

Reinsert the boot drive and check if the issue resolves.
