Hello, I'm setting up an ac3100 with FiOS in my new apartment. Just moved in yesterday and everything seems to be working. I've been talking to Verizon and Asus, but it's unclear why they aren't coordinating. I was told FiOS would be provided, so I thought maybe the wall Ethernet ports were faulty. I've tested six different ports and found it hard to believe all would fail. I'm completely new to this, so please let me know if I missed anything. I won't dismiss anything just yet, no matter how obvious it seems. Apologies if I didn't mention the exact issue. The router says the cable is unplugged, but every Ethernet port in the apartment reports the same thing.

Do you have an ASUS router? Is Fios cable providing the internet? Is the coaxial connection linked to your ASUS device?

I don't need a coax cable; they said Ethernet should work.

Is there a way to access a WAN port on the Asus router? This information seems to come from Fios Equipment. You might need to configure the VLAN settings on the Asus router. Your fiber ISP should handle this task.

Thank you, yes there is a spare port and that's the one I've linked through Ethernet to the wall.

Try accessing the router interface. If the Ethernet connection is active, you should receive an IP address visible on the main screen. Many devices also show a light indicating they’re connected to the internet. It looks like you might have mismatched cables.

I can access the router settings and from what I understand, everything seems fine except the Ethernet cable appears to be disconnected. I’ve spoken with Verizon again—they’re confirming their side of things as well.

It seems the Ethernet ports may not be connected to the ONT. That's the issue you need to resolve.

Connect your machine straight to the ONT’s Ethernet connection and enable DHCP so it should establish an internet link. In your home, the Ethernet network typically converges at one point, making individual room cables irrelevant if they’re not linked elsewhere.
