Hi, I recently bought new rig (specs below). Everything apart GPU is new, I fetched used 3090. Since day 1 I am struggling with thermals and noise generated by GPU. I was told that it's normal for 3090 to operate on 100% RPM with 99% load during gaming - I just want to double check if there is something I can do. 2400RPM on GPU is driving me nuts, as my last setup was built with 2060 and was nearly silent during gaming. I'd be grateful for any advice. Spec: CPU: i5 13600KF GPU: Zotac RTX 3090 Trinity PSU: EVGA 1000 GT Supernova MB: MSI MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI DDR4 Fans: 3x 140mm bq Purewings (2x front, 1x back) Case: bq Pure Base 500 Things I tried: Added 1x 140mm fan to front of case. Switched all sys fans to PWM (operating on 1000 RPMs most of the time) Changed thermal compound on GPU to Kryonaut Grizzly. GPU - Undervolting (biggest improvement, but seems to be unstable during playing demanding games / restricting power usage (not much of a change) / changing fan curve (getting hot too fast anyway) Things I consider doing: Changing thermal pads on GPU. (it seems like previous owner changed in on front to arctics', but I didn't check back ones) Changing case (Considering Lian Li Lancool II Mesh) Changing GPU cooler to water based Changing GPU to 3070/3080 or 40xx (if nothing else will help Sad )

That's a complete fabrication, a massive falsehood.

It seems there might have been some issues with your setup. While a lack of airflow could cause the 3090 to spin faster than usual, achieving 100% RPM isn't typical for gaming. Removing the side panel while playing might affect cooling or performance, depending on the configuration.

It's unusual for it to run at full speed constantly. There might be an issue with the thermal paste or pads on the cards, and it seems like the app isn't handling heat well. The system usually stays quiet under stress.

Tried open-case with round cod mw2. Much cooler at 600 fewer RPMs. Outcomes:

The thermal paste is good, and the front pads are also in order. I verified it myself.

Your situation is really putting you under pressure, but the 78C rating might be too low for a triple-fan Trinity cooler. Did the 78C apply before the side panel was removed?

I omitted the panel before starting the computer launch.

It looks like the cooler might not be properly connected to the GPU. The 78°C reading seems too high. Your memory temperatures are actually decent. What’s the temperature in your room?

Environment temperature is sufficiently low for cold hands. Probably not a problem. I also tested with code using the side panel, but the issue seems linked to the case. Note: Reached 83°C in MSI Afterburner.
