Problem with 2080Ti! Need assistance!
It might be due to thermal paste problems. If I recall correctly, the 2080Ti board ran at around 72-75°C under normal conditions in a 21°C environment. It's possible they can reach the temperatures you're observing, particularly if you're in a hotter area.
What kind of paste is recommended? Should I also replace the thermal pads?
I removed the GPU and took out the PCB. It seems some screws are missing and the thermal pads are damaged. The crucial ones that should be there are hexagonal screws connecting the cooler to the board for good heat contact, plus four large spring-loaded screws around the GPU itself. Because of these missing screws and a few missing thermal pads, heat transfer is poor. The new thermal paste is fine, but more than half of the GPU isn’t properly covered. Someone who disassembled it damaged the cooling system, which is why it’s overheating. (Not me xD) I need to get specific screws for the RTX 2080ti Founder Edition and maybe some thermal pads. Do you know any special websites where I can find the right parts? Thanks a lot!
